Whenever you're in a interview and just after the interview is over this one moment can spoil your all impression whatever efforts you have taken to build it and this one moment you can't afford to go wrong. Whenever you're handshaking after interview is over it is one of the body language test which should be done well. Your confidence is reflected by this moment. You obviously can't go and hug the interviewer after the interview is done that will give wrong impression what you do is handshake. now this handshake should be firm but not to firm. Your hand when you're shaking should not be wet well that doesn't give a good impression. When you're shaking the hands you should not leave it too early or too late. Both will give negative impact. Now there are times when person is talking with other person in the interview panel that is not the correct time to offer handshakes.
People think this is too easy because when they are shaking the hands with the interviewer they think they'll start the handshake do the handshake and will release the hand of the interviewer. Hardly no chances of going wrong or getting the handshake wrong. But there are these 5 styles of handshake that can create the problem:
1. The Sweaty Handshake:
Well having a sweaty hand shows nervousness sometimes, and no one wants to do sweaty handshake. But this is very common people on't realize that they have done a mistake they shake hands and go away. So to avoid this terrible situation whenever your hands are wet with the sweat what you do is clean them with dry cloth clear the wet part and then do the handshake. Interviewer should not get the message of nervousness with just one handshake which is not good. There are many medicines and lotions that are available which can be used before the interview that might avoid the sweaty handshakes. Even with all that if the sweat is coming out we can use sanitizer when the interviewer is coming to greet you so interviewer will feel that it is sanitizer and not the sweat.
2. Handshakes Should Not Be Weak:
Whenever you're handshaking an interviewer if your handshake is firm enough it shows confidence.
It should not be weak your body-language and your facial expressions speak a lot before you do. See to it that your body-language is not saying the opposite of you. If your handshake is not firm it shows that you're weak and it also shows that you're less interested in that particular work which again is not a good impression. So for that you should have a proper handshake. Make sure you do a firm handshake while leaving and entering the interview.
3. Not Too Much Strength Should Be Involved:
When you're shaking the hands with the interviewer you should not apply too much strength that it ends up paining that will not give a good impression and interviewer might end up insulting you. That might cause trouble. It should be firm but not too loose or not too strong also if you're initiating the handshake you should do it when the interviewer is paying attention towards you not when the interviewer is talking with someone else or is busy reading your resume.
4. Don't Release It Too Soon:
Whenever a handshake is done don't release it too soon maintain eye contact when the interviewer loosens his hand that is the time when you need to leave his hand. Handshake should not be weak or tight maintaining eye contact here is important at both the times while leaving and while entering is important.
5. Don't Keep Handshaking:
Whenever you're handshaking don't keep it for too long it may feel awkward to interviewer.
So release it as he loosens the hand too much long handshake feels awkward. When you shake hand just shake hands two to three times and loosen it now that shaking should not be fast or slow.
You should take care of that.
